by Conrad Malte-Brun, 1812. Atlas Complet du Precis de la Geographie Universelle. Hard to find early edition Malte-Brun map, high quality example from a mapmaker known for high attention to detail. In addition to his status as an important cartographer of the period, Malte-Brun was also a founder and the first secretary of the Societe de Geographie de Paris (1821). His son Victor Adolphe Malte-Brun, also a geographer, concerned himself with the course of African and Arctic exploration.
