From Atlas Universel: Physique, Historique et Politique de Geographie Ancienne et Moderne. By H. Dufour, with steel engraving by Ch. Dyonnet in Paris, France. Dufour’s Atlas Universel was one of the most important atlas series to be published in France during the 19th Century. Adolphe Hippolye (Auguste-Henri) Dufour was a student of Lapie, and a key member of France’s mid 19th-century cartography community.

by Conrad Malte-Brun, 1812. Atlas Complet du Precis de la Geographie Universelle. Hard to find early edition Malte-Brun map, high quality example from a mapmaker known for high attention to detail. In addition to his status as an important cartographer of the period, Malte-Brun was also a founder and the first secretary of the Societe de Geographie de Paris (1821). His son Victor Adolphe Malte-Brun, also a geographer, concerned himself with the course of African and Arctic exploration.
